General Purpose of the
Naglieri Test:
Measures ability without the requirement of reading, writing, or
speaking. Focuses on reasoning and problem-solving skills. The
test is considered ideal for those with limited English proficiency, as
such is considered cultural-fair.
Used to identify:

Gifted students for whom English is a
second language
-
Students whose school performance may
be poor because of limited English
proficiency
-
At-risk students whose low nonverbal
reasoning ability may indicate
potential academic problems
-
Students who may have a learning
disability and require further
diagnostic testing
Time:
Students given 30 minutes to complete 39 multiple choice questions.
Total test time is approximately 40 minutes.
Segments:
Pattern Completion, Reasoning by Analogy, Serial Reasoning, and
Spatial Visualization
